Our coverage area

From the campus at Malekpore, ATM serves communities across five districts, concentrated in the Tapi river basin and the country around it.

The five districts

  • Surat
  • Tapi
  • Navsari
  • Valsad
  • Dang

Village-level detail for every district already exists inside the scholarship records, going back to 1971.

District by district

Five districts, one catchment

Boys board on the campus from as far as West Bengal, but the scholarship programme is South Gujarat's.

  • Surat

Where several of the founding members came from, and still the largest share of applications.

  • Tapi

The district Malekpore sits in. The campus, the school, the hostel and the maktab are all here.

  • Navsari

Coastal district to the south-west, reached early in the scholarship programme.

  • Valsad

Southernmost of the five, and home to a long-standing group of donor families.

  • Dang

The forested eastern district, and the hardest to reach — which is why the hostel matters most here.

How the reach grew

What started as groundwork across a handful of neighbouring villages in 1968 now covers most of the region.

The 1968 figure is the founders’ own account of where they began. The current figure is what the scholarship records show today.

What reaches those villages

Scholarships, a school, a hostel and a maktab — the four programmes behind the map.
